Library Services

Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Dera Natung Library, DBC, Itanagar has embraced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to revolutionize its operations and enhance user experiences. The integration of AI-driven systems has enabled the library to streamline processes, improve resource management, and deliver personalized services to its patrons.

Key AI tools that will be implemented in our college libraries include:

Virtual Assistants/Chatbots/Virtual Reference Librarian:

Virtual assistants and chatbots have been implemented to provide instant assistance and support to library users. These AI-powered interfaces can answer inquiries, provide recommendations, and guide users through library resources, enhancing accessibility and user satisfaction.

Research/Project Support Service: 

To access our Research Guidance Services, simply visit the library website and navigate to the library services section under Research Support (Link https://www.librarydbc.com/p/library-services.html). In this section, you will get AI-Based literature review tools, AI paraphrasing tool, free online plagiarism checker and free online reference citation tools.


Faceted Search Interface Service:  

The faceted search interface in the Dera Natung Library of Don Bosco College, Itanagar, is designed to provide users with a comprehensive and intuitive way to navigate and refine search results, making it easier to find relevant information within the library's collections. This tool significantly boosts efficiency in finding relevant materials, making research and learning more accessible and efficient for students and faculty.


Circulation & Book Lending

a) Two Library cards are issued to each student for 03-year validityfor Honors students 03 Library Cards & for faculty 04 Library Cards. (One Card One Book)
b) A library book issued can be retained for a period 15 days for students 30 Days (i.e; One Month) for faculty. If the user wants to retain the books beyond 15/30 days, he/she has to renew the booksA fine of Rs. 10/- will be charged for overdue per day.

Inter-Library Loan Facility

Don Bosco College Central Library offers the ILL facility to users on the basis of requests and demands can be made in person, over phone or via email with access to documents which are not available in our library. 

Internet Facility/ E-Library
Don Bosco College Central Library has an e-library facility to encourage blended learning of the faculty & students by subscribing online e-journals.


i)  Our college is a member of the N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) programme of UGC INFLIBNET since 14/07/2020.  N-LIST is providing access to a huge number of E-Resources such as e-books, e-journals, documents, etc. can be downloaded and saved. ii) National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Our college is a member of the National Digital Library of India. NDLI is a virtual world full of books and e-resources in digitized formats. NDLI is easy to use and any resources can be accessed here with a single search option. NDLI is the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) sponsored and is hosted by IIT Kharagpur at ndl.iitkgp.ac.in.


iii) IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial Our college is a member of the IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial. The Spoken Tutorial project is funded by the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the erstwhile Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. Discussion rooms are available only for students/faculty and staff for academic purposes only.

User Orientation Programme
User Orientation Programmed provides newly admitted students to give and awareness programme about library rules, services and collection. Training sessions are also organized whenever a new product or service is introduced. The hands-on training in using the e- resources, e-journals, and databases are given for familiarizing the E-resources.


Photocopy Service
Users are responsible for complying with copyright act while photocopying library documents.

OPAC/Web OPAC
Don Bosco College Central Library facilitate computerized Catalogue Search Services through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). Users can search and browse their particular documents through Subjects, Author, Title, and Publishers, ISBN, etc. The search facility is also available online (Web OPAC). https://dbcil-opac.l2c2.co.in/



Virtual Reference Service
Online reference service will offer during office hours.

Best Reader Award
Don Bosco Central Library started giving the best reader award for users to motivate users to make use of the library and its services. Students will select on the basis of academic performance and after using the library.

Book Bank Facility

The Book Bank Facility will provide an avenue for academic excellence by offering essential textbooks and study materials to deserving students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in the previous semester. (i.e., BOSCO CENTENARY AWARD for Semester Toppers and BETI PADHAO AWARD for Girl Toppers, etc.) Eligible students can borrow two additional books and materials for the academic year based on predefined guidelines. Library Extension Service

The purpose of the library extension service at Dera Natung Library, Don Bosco College, is to extend access to educational resources and promote lifelong learning beyond the college campus. Its objectives include enhancing community outreach, promoting literacy, supporting research endeavors, fostering community engagement, bridging digital disparities, and encouraging continuous personal and professional development through accessible library services. Overall, the library extension service aims to make knowledge and information more inclusive, accessible, and impactful for diverse communities beyond the college setting.
